Aurora's Abortion Clinic Rally

The following is a reprint of a letter I received from Eric (son of Joe) Scheidler about the Abortion Clinic Rally in Aurora, Illinois, this Saturday. If you think he's charged up about the Pro-Life cause, just wait 'til you see those at the rally.

Dear Tom,

Prayer Vigil outside Planned Parenthood's planned Aurora Abortion ClinicWow! We've really got the momentum building here in our campaign to stop Planned Parenthood from opening up on September 18!

We had tons of press coverage of our big Rally last week, and the story has continued on the Letters pages and all over the pro-life press.

I really think we have the chance to break out nationally with this campaign. I'll tell you how in a minute, but first I need to make an urgent appeal.

We URGENTLY need prayer warriors to cover a whole lot of open Vigil hours this week.

Please visit the website right away and sign up if you possibly can. There are a few important holes in the schedule tomorrow (Tuesday) -- a couple in the early morning and several during the day.

We also have serious need for people to pray in the wee hours Wednesday morning, August 22. Please consider signing up. (We especially need men at night.) Thursday and Friday are in need too!

Here's the vigil calendar.

So far we've covered every hour since we started at 8 a.m. August 6. We're already in Day 12, so let's keep up the great record and cover all the rest of those hours -- especially the ones coming up tomorrow and the rest of this week.

Now to return to the reason I think we are on the verge of "going national" with our fight against Planned Parenthood. It's this: I think the big Rally we have planned at the PP site this Saturday is going to be HISTORIC.

As my father said at the Community Meeting last week, the groundswell of opposition to PP is unlike anything he's ever seen. Everyone involved with this effort continues to be astonished at how much zeal there is to take action against PP.

Every event has had triple the expected attendance! My e-mail list has grown threefold in just a week -- and continues to expand. Just today I sat in on a meeting of local teens who are planning a big youth event in a couple weeks. The movement keeps growing!

And now we've got this big Pro-Life Rally taking place Saturday, 9-11 a.m. right out there at the new PP building. I'm expecting HUNDREDS of people. Several folks have mentioned to me today that they're praying for 1,000 pro-lifers to be there!

And I think we could really do it! And if we do, there's NO WAY the cameras can stay away. Even if they ignore the press release we'll be sending out later this week, they'll have to show up if we have those kinds of numbers.

That's why I'm asking you right now to do everything you can, first of all, to be there yourself. You'll regret it if you're not there. Secondly, please forward this message to everyone you know.

But don't stop there. Get on the phone. Call up your family and friends and beg them to come. Tell them this is a chance to be part of pro-life history!

If we can stop this place form opening September 18, we will be serving PP the biggest black eye they've ever gotten -- shutting them out of the "Abortion Fortress" of Aurora.

That would be the most galvanizing event for the pro-life movement in years. Possibly EVER.

But it won't be easy. It hasn't been easy. It's been very, very hard so far -- but not so hard that God's grace hasn't been enough.

God is watching us, I feel it in my soul. He has appointed this hour for us to work on His behalf for the sanctity of life and family.

How blessed we are to be called to this holy work! And right now, that means two things:

1. We need to fill those Vigil hours -- do what you can!
2. We need to have a MASSIVE presence out there on Saturday.

I know I can count on you to help spread the word about the Big Day on Saturday. And when you do, make sure you mention that we're going to be parking at Our Lady of Mercy parish, 801 S. Eola Rd., with a shuttle running back and forth from the Vigil site.

Here's a map to the church.

Make sure you tell folks to get there early. The shuttle will start running at 8:30 a.m.

See you then!

Yours for Life,

-- Eric

Fighting Irish Tom

I wish I could be there for the vigil and the ralley, but I live in California. However you can be sure my daily Rosery will be said for the success of the pro-life efforts in Aurora.

God bless you all, you are truely doing The Lord's Work.

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your prayers and comments. Now you have to pray for the Irish too! (You're not a Trojan fan, are you?)

God's grace & Mary's prayers,

(". . . a Trojan fan" - as close to a bit of the risque as you get, Tom.)

Prayers to our dear heavenly Mother have a way of being used for every drop of graces she can lovingly cajole from her Son. She will be with you and all Saturday, as will my prayers. And, you abide victory over death in her name.

Then, she will linger the next Saturday near her Fighting Irish so that, win or lose, they triumph.

Both of which go to show that Mother Mary, Notre Dame, is nothing less than the greatest winner of all time.

PPA, Ga.Tech - be warned!
