News from Eric Scheidler: Aurora City Council Meeting (9-11), Jericho March around Planned Parenthood & More!

I received this e-mail today from Eric Scheidler, Communications Director, Pro-Life Action League and I am sharing it with you in its entirety.

Dear Tom,

Last night's City Council meeting was great. Though the Council only allowed three hours of citizen comments, they started with Aurorans, which actually worked in our favor. PP's people were mostly shipped in from afar.

I'm feeling more confident than ever that we can actually keep Planned Parenthood out of town. But any victory must be based on PRAYER—so I want to encourage you to participate in two important prayer events this week:

The first is tonight at 7:30: a Pro-Life Mass with Bishop Peter Sartain at Our Lady of Mercy, 801 S. Eola Road. (I gave the wrong time in an earlier message; the correct time is 7:30 p.m.)

Please come and celebrate life this evening with Bishop Sartain—who, by the way, came out to pray at the Vigil yesterday. God grant him many years!

2. JERICHO MARCH FINALE 9/15 (Map to site.)

The second major prayer event this week is the Jericho March Finale, Saturday starting at 9 a.m. This is one event you don't want to miss.

First, if you haven't been out to on of the evening Jericho Marches yet, try to make one of these last three nights. I was out there with my family the other night in the rain, and it was wonderful.

Now, as for the Jericho March Finale, please bear with me, because I've got a lot of information to share:

* Parking and General Info
* Music for the March
* Baby Shower Donations
* Appearance by Johnny Hunter

I'm still working on the parking situation. There may be a shuttle like we had on August 25. I'll let you know all the details as soon as I've got a firm plan in place.

The March will work like this: When you arrive, you will be directed to a battalion leader wearing a sash that says "Pro-Life" and bearing a cross pendant on a pole.

There will be seven battalions all together, each marching around the block together, staggered about five minutes apart.

March with your battalion as many times around the block as you wish, up to the full seven circuits (about nine miles).

As in the book of Joshua, the finale of the Jericho March will be punctuated with music and fanfare. I encourage all musicians to bring their instruments—guitars, horns, drums, flutes, tambourines, anything. As for me, I'll bring my harmonicas.

I've picked out three pieces of music for the Jericho March that seemed especially appropriate. I'll have lyric sheets for you at the March, but you can download the sheet music here:

At the Jericho March Finale you'll have the opportunity to give a "baby shower" gift to a mother in need—diapers, baby clothes, baby toys and new baby items like car seats or strollers.

The Dominicks next door to the PP building will have an extra stock of baby items, so you can pick something up when you arrive.

All the baby items donated will be given to Catholic Charity, Project Gabriel and the Pregnancy Information Center, for distribution to needy mothers and children.

A flyer is available for you to put up at church or school with all the info on the Baby Shower:

We will be blessed at Jericho March Finale with an appearance by Dr. Johnny Hunter, a pro-life leader in the African-American community and founder of LEARN, the Life Education and Resource Network.

Dr. Hunter will be here all weekend meeting with black pastors to share the truth about Planned Parenthood and help them thwart PP's designs on their congregations.

Tom, please try to be there for the Jericho March Finale. We had over 1,200 people for the August 25 Rally, and frankly I want to top that.

Please ask your friends and family to be there too, and forward this message to any and all.

Addendum ... (9-12-07, 5:00 p.m.)

Dear Tom,

I just got back to my office after doing an interview out at the Vigil site with Leah Hope of ABC TV Channel 7.

Channel 7 and NBC Channel 5 covered the City Council meeting last night. And Channel 32 (who never showed up for Tuesday's Jericho March) called today about coming to the Mass at OLM tonight.

The local broadcast media are finally starting to pay attention to this story. A key reason for this has to be the Hannity piece last Sunday on Planned Parenthood.

Tom, today I want to ask for your help keeping the broadcast media on this story. I'm asking you to follow these three simple steps, which will only take a few minutes:

1. If you haven't already watched the Hannity's America piece on Planned Parenthood, please watch it now:

Hannity's America Segment

2. Send an e-mail to Sean Hannity praising him on the piece and asking for more investigation into Planned Parenthood's sinister activities:

Sean Hannity's e-mail.

3. Send an e-mail or make a phone call to another TV or radio show that you watch or listen to, urging them to cover our big Jericho March starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the PP site.

Please help me reach out to the local and national broadcasters and convince them this is a story they need to cover.

Also, I'd like to ask you take just a second to vote in a poll at the Naperville Sun newspaper site.

Vote NO to Planned Parenthood.

Addendum ... (9-13-07, 2:00 p.m.)

Dear Tom,

Big news on the Jericho March -- our pro-life clergy will be
holding a press conference during the March to present a public
statement opposing Planned Parenthood, to be published in the
local papers Sunday.

This is a crucial press conference, because in the last 24 hours
the media have been all excited about a tiny little group of
pro-abortion clergy, who got together to pray -- that's right to
PRAY -- in support of Planned Parenthood.

I've posted some comments on the FAPP blog about this, along with a
list of media reports on the pro-abortion clergy event:

Pro-abortion clergy event

Please contact your own pastor today and ask him to be there at the
Planned Parenthood site at 10 a.m. to stand with his fellow clergy
in defense of life.

Speaking of clergy, Rockford Bishop Thomas Doran will be out at the
Vigil praying tomorrow (Friday) at 2:30 p.m. I will be there --
hope you can be there too.

Back to the Jericho March, I've been going out on a limb and
telling the press I expect 1,000 marchers Saturday. To do that, I
need your help.

Please call THREE friends or family, right now, and urge them to
join the Jericho March, which starts at 9 a.m at the PP/Vigil site.

And please forward this e-mail to your contacts. Complete info
on the Jericho March is available here:

Jericho March Info

Also, I've got Jericho March parking info for you. We're running
two shuttles, just like we did on August 25, one from Our Lady of
Mercy and the other from New Life Baptist, 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Here are the details:

Our Lady of Mercy,
801 S. Eola Road

New Life Baptist Church,
4054 Fox Valley Center Drive #A

NOTE: If you're taking the OLM shuttle, please park in the NW
corner of the parking lot, near the hill. The shuttle will pick up
from that location.

Tom, let me say again how important it is that we get all the
people we can out there Saturday. Everyone counts, not only because
the press is watching, but because HEAVEN is watching.

Yours for Life,

P.S. Don't forget your gift for the Baby Shower, which you can drop
off at the Jericho March staging area. All baby items collected
will be donated to the Pregnancy Information Center, Catholic
Charities and Project Gabriel.
