Wedding Bliss for Chris? The Loss of Fr. Floss

After Mass last Sunday, we asked Fr. Siegel, our pastor at Visitation Parish in Elmhurst, what many of FIT's browsers had asked us; was there any update on Fr. Christopher Floss, the charismatic young priest who spent his first couple years after ordination inspiring us here, only to leave under mysterious circumstances.

"The only update I can give you since this information is public knowledge—is that Chris left the priesthood and got married," Father replied, kindly but firmly, as if to prevent any further inquiries.

So there you go. Obviously this is an answer to the prayers of many FIT readers, if not the one you were hoping for. As my brother, Fr. William O'Toole, said, once a priest always a priest, at least to a certain extent. But let us now pray that Mr. Christopher Floss has received or will receive dispensation from the priesthood so he can remain an active member of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Unfortunately, this priest was responsible for breaking up the marriage of one of the church's long time parishioners, a woman with a wonderful family. He abused his power as a priest and allowed this to happen. The harm it has done to her children, and their trust in the church, is beyond measure. It pains me to read about him as if he were saint-like. His acts were self-serving, and he betrayed his vows. Your parish is better off without him.

Dear Anonymous,

Thanks for responding. However, when someone responds anonymously with this type of serious accusation, a journalist cannot automatically classify it as truth for it as such is nearly impossible to investigate. Still, it is quite horrible (and diabolical) if it is (true).

God's grace & Mary's prayers,
Tom

P.S. Please fill me in if you want the whole story to be published.

Hi Tom,
I am surprised this story is not common knowledge. The woman's name is ________ ______, and she and Father Chris were married this past August. I cannot tell by your post if you were being sarcastic or not, but those are the facts. I am not trying to sensationalize this, I was just bringing to your attention what actually happened. Fr. Chris is a greeter at a funeral home now. Again, I am not sure if you are being sarcastic, as I find it hard to believe no one in the church talks about this. ___________'s ex still attends mass there. The damage inflicted upon this beautiful family, as I said, can never be measured. Is there really such a cover-up, still, at the church on this matter?

Dear ________,

I assure you I was not being sarcastic. Although I go to Mass, Confession & Divine Mercy at Viz, I do not attend any dinners, shows, or am I on any committees, so I am not privy to any gossip, which I guess is just as well. Sad, tragic, and terrible. It breaks my heart.

God's grace & Mary's prayers,
Tom

Here is the public story on Christopher Floss.

He might be a saintly hero to you, but if this story is true, the man is a third rate con artist, a living and breathing bucket of puke. One wonders just how much other harm this con artist has inflicted upon the trusting souls who came to him looking for help. Another black eye for Catholicism.
