Notre Dame beats USC 22-13, with a little luck and Our Lady

Congratulations to the 2012 Notre Dame Fighting Irish whose victory over USC tonight propels them to the National Championship.

They did it with defense and just enough offense to win. Kyle Brindza kicked five Irish field goals (including a career long 52-yarder) and the Irish defense had yet another brilliant goal line stand, holding the Trojans out of the end zone on eight tries within the five with the game on the line.

Theo Riddick ran roughshod over the Trojans for nearly 150 yards and ND's only touchdown while everyone's favorite, Manti Te'o, notched his 7th interception.

After 317 weeks out of the AP number one ranking, the number (3-17; St. Patrick’s Day!) finally added up for the Irish.

And bad-boy Trojan QB Max Wittek, could only score his number (13), not enough to defeat the Irish, who had both their luck and Our Lady working for them tonight.

Go Irish! Beat 'Bama!
